Searching on Google is a part of most of our daily lives. For this reason, it makes sense to do it as efficiently as possible. The following tips and suggestions will show you how to make use of a range of time saving Google short cuts that will help to speed up your day-to-day Google searches; after all, the more time you can save doing the searching, the more time you can spend with the actual content you are looking for.
Google Instant / I’m Feeling Lucky
This high profile feature, introduced in September 2010, is claimed by Google to speed up searches by two to five seconds. Google Instant loads suggested search results as you type, meaning that you may only have to type part of your search phrase to obtain the results you want. Google Instant does not automatically load results for offensive or derogatory words or phrases, rather a press of the Enter key is required for this.
Google Instant can be turned on using Search Settings, accessible from the top-right hand corner of the Google home page. Note that if you are using an older or unsupported browser, Google Instant may not be available for you. If you would like to try it out, upgrade to a newer supported browser such as Google Chrome.
